Exciting news as we launch the new COVID Bounceback Fund for the Armed Forces community!
The Trustees of the Team Army Sports Foundation, in association with Ultra Electronics Holdings plc (Ultra), are pleased to announce the creation of a COVID Bounceback fund for 2021/22. The fund has been created to help groups and communities recover from the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.
Maj Gen Lamont Kirkland, CEO of Team Ethos & Team Army said, ‘We are delighted to partner with Ultra in creating this fund to help the armed forces community bounceback from COVID 19. The Armed Forces have been on the frontline in the national response to the pandemic and many of our WIS veterans have had to take extreme measures to remain shielded and protected. Hence this fund will provide opportunities to undertake challenging, adventurous activities which will help to improve health, wellbeing and recovery in our community.’
Simon Pryce, Chief Executive Ultra Electronic Holdings plc said,‘Ultra is committed to acting as a positive force and making an active contribution to the communities in which we operate. We are therefore immensely proud to be supporting this new fund which will help groups from the armed forces community bounceback from the Covid 19 pandemic.’
Groups and organisations from the armed forces community are invited to submit bids to receive a grant from this special purpose fund. Specifically, the trustees wish to award grants to groups or organisations which create the opportunity to improve mental and physical wellbeing in armed forces personnel, including WIS veterans, through sport, challenge or adventure during 2021 or 2022.
WHAT EVENTS WILL QUALIFY FOR FUNDING?
Bids should be submitted for one-off events where the physical activity serves a wider, greater purpose. The activity should be challenging or adventurous and provide a highly rewarding developmental and transformative experience for those involved. For WIS veterans, the activity should help to rebuild lives by providing the inspirational goals that help them move beyond their disability, regain confidence and recapture their zest for life.
HOW IT WORKS
Bids will be scrutinised by a judging panel with representatives from the Team Army Sports Foundation and Ultra. The expectation is that most bids will be for sums up to £5,000 although activities of exceptional value may receive a grant up to £10,000. Bids should be no longer than two pages of text plus any associated maps, charts and costings. Submissions should highlight features that promote diversity and inclusivity and describe how the activity will be promoted across media channels and news outlets.
The Trustees are keen to use this opportunity to promote the work of the charity and reflect Ultra’s core values, especially Ultra’s “empowering” company value*. Both organisations will expect to be credited for their support, although not necessarily exclusively.
This is a rolling process and bids can be submitted to email@example.com at any time throughout 2021.
* Ultra’s Empowering value: providing a vulnerable group from within all of Ultra’s local communities with the help and tools they need to empower them to realise their own path to recovery
